Spark plugs and cylinders check

When I went to Husam I took recently endoscope to check engine cylinders. I don't know why, I just wanted to look inside.

But first, we unscrewed sparking plugs. They all look good with right color.

22.5 oil change with Husam

First of all, who is Husam.

Husam got a garage in Baqa al-Gharbiyye. He worked for Champion Motors at Netanya overall 10 years in VW/Audi. Great person and professional. I got a lot of compliments about his work from a lot of people and I can tell that all of them true.
The price of the service was great and I even added extra bonus for him because I was really impressed.

Regarding the oil. I bought already Valvoline SynPower XL-III 5W-30 with VW 504 approval but after that I was able to ask some professional advice (in Russian) about oil I use.
The summary:
- 504 can be used in place of 502 but it's LowSAPS oil. 502 is better in terms of wear and protection. 504 is more for ecology sake and not for your engine.
- maximum replacement interval is 10-15 kkm. With more city traffic - 10 is maximum. I can't imagine what happens at 30! :-)
- if in doubt - follow manufacture instructions.
- better oil for mine engine is Mobil 1 0W-40 that is also approved by VW 502.

So I drove to Alon Halafim (that now have internet site) and changed 4 liters of 504 to 5 liters of 502.

Door sill covers

As you may know, I got plastic covers from previous post. The reason I ordered them is not only better and finished look but also this

This is passenger side - small scratches from boots.

Mine side is fine, just few big scratches after alarm system install made by me and a my friend.

By the way, here I used paint touch-up stick for a first time and also fixed some paint on doors - great thing!

But I don't liked black covers. Of course I could order an expensive covers with metal plates but it cost almost x3 times more, so I choose plastic version.

To add better look, I played in Photoshop with tracks inside plastics (images converted from yellow car, may be not accurate - not so important).

I think white is too much, but gray is nice and it matches gray seats covers.

This set I get for 30 NIS. Probably not best choice for varnish but will see after several months. May be it will require applying once in a while.

Most difficult part is to precisely trace the paths with color. I used different brushes. Paint should dry out for 24 hours, varnish too. I put few layers of varnish so it took me 3-4 days to finish. But is was fun ;-)

Installing was simple, I used masking tape to mark where it should sit. Normally, at service they have templates as shown in doc KDA 700 001 Door Sill Covers (PDF).

Will turbocharger compressor spin after stop?

Few days ago I got delivery from DealExtreme - small USB endoscope.

Question: how long turbocharger continue to spin after engine stop?
The answer at the end of the video

This video we did on cold idle engine, revolutions at the end ~700.
Next time we do that on hot engine when oil got working temperature, may be then it will spin more?
I always thought it will spin a while after that but... that's interesting.
